Non-Halal

Non Halal Post.

Just the other day, Mum, Sis and I went marketing at the Pasar Besar and the shops around it.

We were a bit hungry and decided that we should have our lunch. Sis wanted to eat some fried innards thingy that she tried at this makan place called Kopitiam Tong Fang. So we left all the groceries in the car and walked over to this kopitiam.

This is a non-halal post. Only picture that are more acceptable are here, for more picture, please visit the Non-Halal Food pages in the Forum. Remember the Red Indian face thingy on the green wall? Well, it is the deco at this Thai Food place.

Chok Dee seems to be quite a hit with many people in Batu Pahat. It serves very good Thai Food. It is located opposite the new Fire Station in Batu Pahat.

We went there recently to celebrate mum’s birthday. 4 of us ordered a few dishes to try out. We are very very satisifed.

The neon signboard that you will not miss at night.

We asked them what’s their ‘house specialty’, well it is roast khinzir, so the pictures are only in the Forum section. That dish came first.

Then we also ordered a fish, and it is cooked in Yellow Curry style, and very soup. This dish is a must order. We love it so much! Especially Dad!

Next was a Fried Rice dish. It was rather unique as we had to mix the ingredients ourselves. The rice comes like nothing on top, but it also comes with a plate of condiments to stir in. There’s another plate of ‘something’ that comes with it too.

We also wanted to try out their Phad Thai, but they dont serve Phad Thai, but they had I can’t remember the name, but it was also rice noodles, but we like it very much. It comes with lots of veg too!

Mum loves salad, so we ordered this salad too. It comes with some veg that is cooked and some that is raw. Just like how you eat in Thailand. There’s cucumber, lightly boiled cauliflower, lightly boiled long beans, and also raw long beans. This sauce is oooo…. yummy.. If you like Malay Salad i.e. ulam ulam, you will like it.

When ordering Thai food, it is almost certain that people will order the mango salad. I think I don’t need to talk much. The picture will tell you all about it..

We also ordered Tom Yam soup. Actually, after tasting the yellow curry, this tomyam just did not quite make it for our taste buds. The fish is a tad over cooked and it just did not give us the ooompph.

Overall, we love the dishes very much. You should try it. It’s a bit too much food for 4 persons though. The servings were quite big. It cost around RM80 for all the dishes we ordered.
