Many people will remember this restaurant at 59, Jalan Mohd Salleh. It’s called Futuna. Ya, the restaurant near Telekom Malaysia is what some people call it.
This is how it looked previously.

This is how it looks now. A new building has been built beside the old one. And it looks great too!

How’s the food? Yummy yummy yummy. Here’s some photos of it.
The Black Pepper Venison.

Stir Fry Lettuce

Deep Fried Fish with “Chai Por”

Spicy and Garlic Pork

Ya, the logo on its plate. haha…

Hope you enjoy this post. Pop down here to have a meal. Tell them you came here because you saw the food on this website!
Oh, they got this sophisticated karaoke system, where some people will sing, argghhh hate it! But the good food will compensate it definitely!
Apologies to some readers, this food’s not halal.

I have not been posting much, was busy due to many things. So what’s coming up soon?
1. Pictures of Batu Pahat from 1967 – 1969. Pictures are courtesy of Mr Takashi Wakai from Japan. Pictures of old BP is so charming! I will be putting those up soon.
2. I will be making a trip back to BP soon to take more photos and eat all the BP food. Watch out for more photos!
3. Standard Chartered Bank is opening a branch in Batu Pahat soon. That’s what I read.
Oh yes, I think some of you might have emailed me, but the mails might have gone into my Junk Folder. I think I might have accidently deleted everything in Junk. Can you email me again? Thanks.
Have a great week ahead.

Just a old photo taken out of storage. The Batu Pahat market.
Whenever we come here with mum, a few vendors will shout, “lao shi, yao mai chai ma?” (Teacher, any vegetables for you today?). Mum taught in Chinese High School long long ago, and some of the veg vendors were her former students.

This is a picture of the market with the iconic Clock Tower. Sadly it’s not working anymore. Even the clock hands have been taken down. This place really needs a super overhaul. But it has its charms I guess, to many who have been there since they were young.
Maybe Kevv would like to restore the clock tower too :-p
Anyone knows when this Pasar Besar was built?

This is Sekolah Tinggi Batu Pahat or commonly known as High School Batu Pahat by all in BP. The official name is now Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tinggi Batu Pahat. This is where yours truly studied for secondary school.

(This front sign board did not exist while I was studying there, it was just a normal fence last time)
Everyone remembers the main office building as the white house. It seems that this photo that I took last year, the colour has changed.

It seems so weird or should I say different now, the colour of the building.
If you are wondering what is NunC Aut Nunquam. Well, that’s the school’s motto. It’s Latin for Now or Never.
Did you study in High School too? Well, I studied there from 1988 (Form 1) to 1992 (Form 5).

Mechanical heart girl wants a real one soon
By IZATUN SHARI
KUALA LUMPUR: Using a marker pen, mechanical heart recipient Tee Hui Yi scribbled the words “dapat jantung cepat” on a small white board. It is her wish to get a new heart soon.
Hui Yi, 13, had undergone a five-hour operation at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Sept 29 to implant an external mechanical heart assist device. The device is to support her while waiting for a heart donor.
The Batu Pahat girl yesterday met the press at IJN’s intensive care unit where she had been warded for 33 days.
Although she cannot talk yet, the gutsy girl has made progress and is able to sit in a wheelchair and do light exercises. She can also write and communicate with the doctors, nurses and physiotherapists via hand signals.
Hui Yi, who is now undergoing extensive cardio-pulmonary (to strengthen the lung functions) and neurological rehabilitation (to strengthen the brain), is the second successful mechanical heart recipient in the country.
The first mechanical heart recipient was 16-year-old Muhammad Fikri Nor Azmi whose surgery at IJN in July last year was the first in Asia and Australasia.
Hui Yi’s mother, Dina Batosambua, 45, from Tawau, Sabah, is hopeful that her daughter will get a new heart soon.
Once she recovers, I hope she can go back to normal activities and school, she said, adding that Hui Yi had not been schooling for two years.
IJN’s consultant cardiothoracic surgeon and medical heart programme director Dr Mohamed Ezani Md Taib said there was a donor from Alor Star last Friday but unfortunately, the blood group was incompatible with Tee’s.
He said that the RM120,000 mechanical heart assist device, which was placed outside Tee’s abdomen and connected to the left side of her heart, could last for about two years. The cost was borne by IJN.
We had to place the device outside unlike Fikri’s device which was placed inside. This is because Hui Yi’s body is smaller and her heart condition is more complicated.
He said Hui Yi was also more prone to infection due to the external device. To overcome this, her blood thinning level had to be monitored daily.
