Walking along Jalan Rugayah, you can see this distinctly different building that is one of the few left in Batu Pahat. It’s some old government quarters.

Just beside the quarters, you will see a huge billboard covering up an old dilapidated building. Sis and I decided to find out more, and we pretended to be tourist. We went to the few shops opposite the ‘billboard building’ to ask the old uncles and aunties about the history.
They were already in their 60s or 70s and said they are too young to know the whole history. They have seen it all the time, they forgot it is there. haha… They said something about it being a place where rice was distributed or something.
Then after “he ping” (they were talking in a mix of Mandarin and Hokkien, He Ping = Merdeka) It was the ‘Bomba’ and then it was also the ‘Jabatan Telekom’. They said it was in a worse state and it is cleaner nowadays.

Well, current and previous residents of BP, if you or your relatives know more, let’s update or correct each other about the story of this place.
Some close up shots of the arches on top of the building. You can see this part it totally wrapped up by the roots of the trees.

An even more zoom in, you can see interesting words. What can you make out of this?

On another arch, you can see the word Garage on it.

It was a pleasant surprise that these words came out, while I was taking the photos, I did not really see these words until I got home and view it on the PC.

Anyone recognize anyone inside there? I found this photo the other day when I was back in Batu Pahat. A photo of my classmates and I. haha… So small!

I met up with 7 of them recently, which I have not seen for a very long time. Some of them 15 years ago.
Hey Darjah Enam Biru people, to help conserve your eye sight, here’s the zoom in.

See you all in Facebook! haha….

Remember a few weeks ago, we posted up to ask if anyone wants to meet up during the Hari Raya? Well, it was a very super last minute decision. Anyway, only tigersden and I met up. So sorry to those who wanted to meet up but did not know where we were meeting, we did not either.
It was just the nite before or was it the morning itself, that we call each other and ask where? So it was breakfast at the Jiak Pa Sat.

Jiak Pa Sat was formerly located at the current Hong Leong Bank building.

OK. What did we eat? I had Fish Ball / Bak Chor Mee. But after looking at what tigersden ate, I ordered a similar bowl, but without the noodles. Haha…
This is the man that has been selling it for a very very long time. More than 30 years the lady serving us the noodles said.

Tigersden ate the full thing with noodles. This bowl was basking under the morning Batu Pahat sun. Doesn’t it glow? hehe…

I had the one without noodles as my second bowl of food. *glutton look*
The moment I try it, I remember that taste! Still the same.

If you want to read more about it and more things about Beef Noodles, head on to tigersden’s blog.

Like ‘tada’, I have not used Pesta for some time. I have switch to calling it the Big Mosque area.
Some pictures of Pesta.

Only come to this side of town on Saturdays for Pasar Malam. haha…

It’s exactly 1 week ago that I balik kampung to Batu Pahat. It was the last day of fasting and also the last day that all the Ramadan Bazaars are open. (The day I had the sup gearbox. haha..)
(Other than the Gearbox thingy, we also bought this.) We bought Ayam Golek. It looks too tempting to miss out. The smoke that came out was so so ‘wangi’. Our noses ‘dragged’ us straight to the Ayam Golek stall.
Just look at all the Ayam being cooked over the rollers.

I took the sign, so just in case you want, you can call the guy up and ask where he is selling. :-p

The guy chopping up the chicken for us. We ordered the smallest, which was RM13.

Here’s the close up of the chicken. Not bad at all. Very tasty.
