  1. It’s one of the most, if not the most beautiful colonial style buildings in BP. It’s a popular landmark for tourists to snap photos whenever they come to BP. There are also a few privately owned dilapidated colonial style buildings along Jalan Kluang, just after Batu Pahat Golf Club and the new mosque.

Beautiful………yeah, there’re a couple more colonial-style buidlings like the Kwong Siew Association at Jalan Abu Bakar and Tan Swee Ho mansion at Jalan Kluang.

It is indeed a magnificent piece of architecture that is very well preserved. Kudos to the Chinese Chamber of Commerce for being conscious about protecting this building and also not painting it in some gawd-awful colour as what they did to most of the shophouses in town.

As changngee mentioned, I always noticed there is a beautiful mansion along Jalan Kluang on a very big piece of land. It is pretty run down but it looks very original from the outside. Anyone knows anything about that mansion?

Has anybody wondered who built the majestic Chinese Chamber of Commerce? He was none other than Chew Kee, my grandfather. Incidently the Kwong Siew Association and the first 3-storey buildings in BP fronting the BP River near the old ferry were also built by him. So was the mosque in Tanjung by the Muar River. The entrance arch at KSA bears my grandfather’s name. He unfortunately died a tragic death just after the 2nd WW. When in Muar, visit the mosque and you will find something very interesting about it!

I have been to Punggor but it seems like quite artificial, meaning the beach there is block by a wall and the sand is not originated from there, means transported by lorries and placed there.

Any “real” beaches here in BP or nearby places which is similar to Port Dickson and Desaru?
