Fishing Village at Segenting area…
These are some photos I pulled out from my archive. Pictures of the Straits of Malacca during low tide at the fishing village.

Fishing nets, rolls and coils of it!

The Mud Skippers. They are actually quite fun to watch!

The low tide view of the Straits. See the long jetty on the left?

Now that’s something you can do in BP if you want to enjoy the breeze of the Straits of Malacca.
How to get there?
Drive along Jalan Ampuan, and you can then follow the road signs now that says Minyak Beku. Just drive into the kampungs, people are friendly. Actually near where this pictures are taken, there’s a temple there that is frequently visited by people from outside BP.
Where is the “lover’s bridge”?? qing ren qiao…
Oh… i love this place… it just brought back a lot of memories to me… although sometimes it smells… but… i still love to sit down there and have a good view of the sunset and sunrise… not to forget the breeze… the waves… and all those kids running around… and motocyclist and bikers around u….
lover bridge is at the end of the village, you have to pass the temple where most people go to, the one where they can touch the arapaimas (giant fish) for good luck and fortune.
These are great pictures you have taken, Phillip. The mudskippers seem to be suffering from a case of malnutrition.
Lover bridge was once a popular place for dating couple, btw, is it the jetty in the last picture? I can’t remember the exact location of the bridge since my last visit to Segenting was 1994. Thanks Tiger for giving the direction. I should bring my wife there when i come back to BP. I have a few classmates who stay at Segenting, from their house u can have direct view of Strait of Malacca and the lighthouse…cool.
Actually, I have been to Segenting twice, but I cannot see any interesting places there. A temple is there with a lots of stalls selling different kind of stuffs. A restaurant is seen there but seems like closed down already.
Oh ya, but there is a famous temple… which a lot of S’porean like to visit.. they can touch the fish…”Ji Long Yu”…
