To participate, click on Sign-In and you will have instant access to this forum. After your first sign-in, click on Account to update your particulars, anything that you want people to know or people not to know :-)
You might also want to configure the forum preferences to your liking, click on Account (on the top tab menu) > Forum Preferences (on the left panel). I like mine all ticked, except for Turn off Poll notifications. It gives me the best navigation in this forum.
Then start your own discussions by clicking on 'Start a new dicussion' on the left panel. You can also participate in other's discussion. I have enabled uploading, so you can upload your photos of Batu Pahat etc. Try to resize them smaller before uploading, so it will not strain the server :-) Others will also have a faster loading time if the file is smaller.
There is a category call 'Test Test / Cuba Cuba'. You can test post anything there. No one will scold you.
I stumbled upon this interesting site while doing a random search about Batu Pahat. Kudos for you! Thanks for the interesting recommendation for food and the photos on Monfort. Lets all make this site a good one!
Halo! A forum, finally!!! I've always have problems with the 'Comments' section on the website, so having a forum here will be much much more convenient.
There is a 4th generation restaurant (one of the oldest )in batupahat. Do you heard of Kai-Kai restaurant before. I even had the menu and the telepone number at that time is only 3 numbers
Yeah, I remember Kai-Kai restaurant. It was located at Jalan Jenang and was world-famous in BeePee for its tai-pau & dim-sums. Too bad, over time the quality of its service & food went downhill. One of the sons has a restaurant in Cha'ah specialising in 'wild-meats'. I never failed to stop by everytime I was in the area. Should try some of his turtle or snake soups......
There were also 2 more famous restaurants like, Pek You Tian & Chin Hiong Chun. These 2 had stop operating.......
I wonder if I should take pics of local fruit tree. Just so that kids these days do not think that fruits come from trees and not supermarket shelves. -___________-
Tigersden quoted: [I wonder if I should take pics of local fruit tree. Just so that kids these days do not think that fruits come from trees and not supermarket shelves.]
Hehehe, reminds me of the jokes about S'pore kids not believing that chickens actually have feathers & run around. All the chicken they saw were those slaughtered & dressed up on display at supermarket shelves.......
Yeah, should take some pics esp. those exotic ones like putosan, jambu air & etc. I dunno if people still plant them in BP anymore.
Phil, this is a fantastic site.....brings back memories of good ole Batu Pahat. I can't wait to post some old photos of my schooling days in the early 80s and early 90s. Wish we had digital cameras back then. I'll have to scan each and every single one....watch this space!
I am glad to have found this website few months back. Until today, just got my chance to join in this family. Sorry for being late :P Good job, Philip.
Philip, may I have some suggestions about this forum? Is there any chances to "attract" all registered members to be active in this forum (as Tigersden does :P)? E.g. sending out a notification email once per week for all the updates happened in the BP forum. Such as new discussion topic started up, new comments, new members.... etc. My point here is just to use the email as a "reminder" to the members who may be too busy to log in to this forum. At the same time, members can also get a quick update about the forum from the email at a glance. If this is not an easy task or maybe there are other better ideas, then just forget about mine :P
Must cut down my time in forum, else people will think I live here. Old tiger got no where else to go .. hmm .. maybe I should try caterwauling. Getting too old for that either. =p
Yeah as what Ning suggested, we need more members in here. We do not have enough people commenting or contributing. I am sure some of you have other interesting photos to share like old parents photo (not their marriage one) taken in town during the 50s, 60s or 70s. I am sure most of the young-uns wanna see how the old town look like before they start tearing down all the pre-war buildings.
Or maybe at the top of the forum there beside the Home, bla bla , Contact put Forum.
Opps. Don't get me wrongly, Tiger... You have brighten up this forum a lot. Please don't stop uploading photos, starting up discussion topic... Many of us will get disappointed for sure if you opt to cut down your time in BP forum...

I spent about a week and half in BP last month, I hadnt been to BP since i was 11 which was 12 years ago.
I have been told that BP had changed alot but i seemed to find my way around quite easily again and noticed these differences : new hospital, 2 new police buildings, 3 malls instead of 1 and the rex had closed.
I was introduced to a Soursop ice drink, possibly the best drink ive had in BP and had many foods that i have really missed : Roti channai , char tao kway? satay chicken, woton mee, charsue fan.
I plan to come visit again next year, any suggestions on places i should go or foods i should try?
